Louis Bergeron returns to lead Gazoduq's activities

Gazoduq is pleased to announce the return of Louis Bergeron as President of the organization. With over 40 years of experience in the energy sector in several countries and leading complex projects, Mr. Bergeron joined Gazoduq in August 2018 as President to lead our 780 km underground carbon-neutral natural gas pipeline project which takes place between northeastern Ontario and the Saguenay - Lac-Saint-Jean region.

As a result of his experience in leading major projects, he is recognized in Quebec for his expertise in the development of large-scale infrastructure projects in close collaboration with the communities.  His inclusive leadership abilities will undoubtedly be put to good use in the next stages of our project's development. Louis is a definite asset to Gazoduq and we are pleased to have him back at the helm of the project.

In November 2020, during the height of the pandemic, Louis Bergeron made the decision to transition to a strategic consulting role and has since been involved in special projects. Now, his role as Gazoduq’s President will be all the more critical as the pandemic restrictions are expected to be lessened and the project will likely be able to re-intensify its activities.

Over the next few months, Louis Bergeron will aim to regain the project’s full momentum and will accompany Gazoduq's teams in the pursuit of the regulatory procedures underway and the finalization of the environmental impact assessment and other related documents. In addition, they will continue to prioritize an open, transparent, and constructive dialogue within the context of the consultation process with the Aboriginal and local communities near the pipeline.

The Gazoduq team welcomes this appointment and is convinced that Louis Bergeron is the right person to give new impetus to the development of our project, which aims to be a powerful catalyst for development in the four major regions we cross.
